Two Five-a-Side football tournaments for U-19 and U-13 girls were held at San Gwann Football Ground.

Seven teams participated in the U-19 event which was played on a round-robin basis.

The matches turned out to be balanced affairs as up to the last match no fewer than four teams were still in contention to win the tournament.

Mosta and Birkirkara finished on top with 13 points each, with Mosta being declared winners on the basis of their direct encounter with Birkirkara. Melita claimed third place with 11 points, followed by Hibernians, Mgarr, who surprisingly beat the Paolites, St Venera and Rabat.

The U-13 tournament was contested between Hibernians and Mgarr, with the former winning all their three matches.

MFA Vice-President John Farrugia, Chairman of the Women’s Football Board, presented medals to all participants in the presence of the Organising Committee composed of Alfred Zammit, Pierre Brincat, Anna Agius, Jackie Ellul Soler, Lorraine Zammit, Robert Agius and Physiotherapist Elaine Vella.

The event was sponsored by Sports Experience of Attard.
