Kellogg’s Sponsored Slimming UK holds Slimmer of the Year awards

Kellogg’s, the world’s largest breakfast producer and leading provider of convenience foods, was one of the main sponsors of the Slimmer of the Year Awards, held at the Coastline Hotel and organised by Slimming UK.

The first Slimmer of the Year Award 2006 went to Marisa Abela, who lost a total of 52 kilos. Michelle Calleja was the runner up, losing a total of 34 kilos.

A token of appreciation was also given to those members who maintained their target over the past years and still attend the meetings.

For the first time, a special prize was awarded to members who have lost over 20 kilos for their perseverance in managing to achieve a very good weight loss and for attending the meetings regularly.

The awards were presented by Valerie Portelli Hunt, the Slimming UK Consultant for the Mosta, Naxxar and St Julian’s areas. Ms Portelli Hunt has been specially trained by Nanette Kyle and Jan Howell from the UK and is one of the few consultants who has the authority to hold Slimming UK classes in Malta.

Slimming UK is one of the leading slimming clubs in Malta with a track record of over 4000 members throughout Malta.

The main leading clubs being situated in Mosta and St Julian’s, with members attending from all over the island; ages varying from fourteen to seventy five years.

The Slimming UK programme’s main aim is to help willing individuals gain or regain self-esteem through a healthy diet. The suggested diet is well known to be a moderate diet made up of carbohydrates, protein, calcium, vegetables and fruit. Physical exercise is also encouraged.

The most common cereal listed and recommended in the Slimming UK programme is Kellogg’s Special K, and is considered the most popular cereal among all members.
