Emirates’ Divisional senior vice-president, cargo, Ram Menen, has been inducted into the prestigious fifth Asia Logistics Awards 2006 Hall of Fame.
The coveted award was given out in Singapore, during the Asia Logistics Awards (ALA) – an annual, major event on the calendar of the regional transportation and logistics industry and organised by established regional trade title Freight Transport Buyer (FTB) Asia. This year, 16 prestigious awards were presented to companies and individuals in Asia, to recognise their sterling contributions and achievements in the industry.
Mr Turloch Mooney, editor of Freight Transport Buyer Asia and chairman, Asia Logistics Awards Judging Panel, said, “The Hall of Fame winner is someone who has contributed heavily to the development of the logistics and transportation industry, and has demonstrated innovation and creativity in executing development strategies in his or her country and the region.”
“Ram was an obvious choice for us as the recipient of this prestigious award. With his deep involvement and exceptionally high profile in the freight transportation industry, we felt that Ram easily matched, and surpassed, all of the necessary criteria for induction to the FTB Asia Hall of Fame,” he said.
Since its beginnings in 1985, Mr Menen has led the Emirates SkyCargo team through its successful achievement of many milestones and numerous accolades. In 2006, the carrier won a number of awards, including “Best Cargo Airline to the Middle East” for the 18th consecutive year and “Best Cargo Airline to the Far East” at the Cargo Airline of the Year awards.
More recently under Mr Menen’s leadership, Emirates SkyCargo launched SkyChain, a comprehensive end-to-end IT cargo management system, which offers a wealth of advantages over existing cargo systems.
Mr Menen said, “To be inducted into the coveted Hall of Fame is indeed an honour, and I wish to thank Emirates Group Chairman and Chief Executive, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Emirates Airline President Tim Clark, my colleagues, the organisers, and our clients for their wonderful support. I will continue to strive to maintain and enhance Emirates SkyCargo’s products and services, and will aim to take the carrier to greater heights.”
