Razzett tal-Hbiberija will benefit from the sale of cookery books and educational books and cards produced by Direction Learning Ltd.
The cookery book, Healthy Mediterranean Recipes From Malta, written by Miriam Borg, has been awarded the prestigious World Cookbook award for Best Mediterranean Cookbook in English – Rest of the World. Karl Borg, the editor of the book, received a special mention by the board of the World Cookbook Awards for his publications-management skills.
The book is beautifully
illustrated, with step-by-step photographs and large detailed photo displays of well-known Maltese and Mediterranean dishes. Every recipe gives the calorie count and special attention has been given to ensuring a healthy diet.
This publication is therefore an asset for people on special diets. It also has great appeal to the younger generation, who are both health conscious and
rediscovering their Mediterranean roots. The book is available in Maltese and English in paperback and hardback at Lm6.95 and Lm8.95 respectively and is available from leading bookshops.
Another project pursued between Razzett tal-Hbiberija and Direction Learning Ltd is an educational one called Shab (“Clouds”). The project involves the production of four high quality, full colour, A4 books and a pack of 48 cards and is inspired, as the name suggests, by clouds.
The creator of the project, Karl Borg, explained that today’s world is marred by wars, terrorism and natural disasters. Most of the evil brought about by mankind is the result of geographical claims on exclusive territories. He pointed out that clouds are still unclaimed territory. Clouds travel and are the best ambassadors – like postmen, they can carry good news to so many from so many. The Literature in the Clouds project has been developed to spread internationally, like clouds, with no barriers and as unclaimed” added Mr Borg.
The first of the books is aimed at children between the ages of six and eight, the second book targets the nine to 11 age group, the third one is for those aged between 12 and 14 and the fourth book is aimed at youngsters aged 15 and over.
The project also includes the production of 48 cards (size 24cm by 17cm), also inspired by clouds, which children and adults should be encouraged to use in their postal communications – writing messages to each other, cultivating positive attitudes within European states and across cultures.
Razzett tal-Hbiberija business development manager Bradley Dingli said the facility, which provides free services to over 1,000 people with disabilities, has a
recurrent expenditure of Lm350,000 a year. He thanked Direction Learning Ltd and Mr Borg for their support and also thanked the employees and volunteers at Razzett tal-Hbiberija.
