Following their successful run of 10 sell-out nights at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in October, Voices are proud to launch their One Family concert on DVD.
“The visual medium allows us to reach a much wider audience to people who have not had the opportunity to be with us in the theatre for the live shows,” said Voices spokesman Adrian Mamo. The professional vision and audio recordings, edited, mixed and mastered at Studio 7 using the latest technology, including Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound, allows the best possible reproduction and the nearest one can get to experiencing the live concerts from the comfort of one’s home.
This has all been possible thanks to the collaboration of a number of experienced and professional personnel. “We are thrilled to have all the hard work that the choir singers and the band put into the concerts so faithfully translated to video,” said Mr Mamo. “The technical crews on sound (The Sound System Co. Ltd) and lights (Sonlit Lighting Technology) collaborated with Studio 7 personnel to bring out the best from the live shows. Recording such a large endeavour including a 200-strong choir, 30 solo singers and a 10-piece band is no mean feat. Meticulous planning and many hours spent on rehearsal and technical refinements have paid off so we have a product we are truly proud of.”
The DVD pack, which will be on sale from 15 December from Exotique shops in Valletta, Sliema, St Julian’s, Balzan, Hamrun, Gozo and Malta International Airport, and other localities contains two CDs (one recorded in-studio and the other with 17 songs recorded live), and a two-hour DVD including 19 songs from the concert, together with a “behind-the-scenes” feature and a souvenir booklet. The DVD plus two CD pack sells at Lm12 and the two CD pack sells at Lm9. All proceeds are in aid of local charities. Voices is a completely non-profit initiative and all the singers, band members and organisers offer their services voluntarily.
