Heritage Malta has been accepted as a full member of the European Network of Conservation and Restoration Education (ENCoRE). The membership was confirmed at ENCoREs sixth general assembly held recently in Maastricht, The Netherlands. During the assembly, Heritage Malta’s Head Academic and Vocational Studies and director of Heritage Malta’s Institute of Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage, Dr Martina Caruana, gave a presentation focusing on the institute and its conservation education programmes.

As a result of this membership, Heritage Malta’s academic division, The Institute of Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage (ICMCH), now benefits from an increase in collaboration, dialogue and exchange of information and ideas with other partners. Moreover, Heritage Malta’s academic conservation courses and research activities will be well promoted at European level.

ENCoRE was founded in 1997 with the aim of convening higher educational institutions operating in the field of conservation – restoration. The organisation promotes research and education in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, according to the directions and recommendations given in the Professional Guidelines of the European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers Organisation ECCO and the Document of Pavia of October 1997.

In line with ENCoREs vision for conservation education, ICMCH offers Bachelor and Master degrees in conservation studies – B.Cons.(Hons) and M.Cons in conjunction with the University of Malta.
