Car Demolishes bus shelter, no one hurt

Malta Independent Tuesday, 13 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

No one was injured yesterday in a traffic accident on Tal-Barrani Road, limits of Zejtun when a car demolished a brick bus shelter after being hit by another car.

The accident happened at around 10.30am when a Toyota Tercel, driven by a 56-year-old man from Marsascala, was travelling towards Birzebbuga and performed a u-turn. At that instant, a Peugeot 406, driven by a 32 year-old woman from Zejtun, coming from the opposite direction, hit the Toyota, which rammed into a bus shelter which has been re-built only recently – it had been demolished in a traffic accident a few months ago.

A side wall was completely ruined while the other side wall was half destroyed. As a result, the shelter’s concrete ceiling fell on the Toyota. Fortunately no one was hurt.

The 32-year old woman was hospitalised and later allowed home.

Both cars sustained considerable damage.
