Court: Six Months’ jail for theft of alcohol

A 29-year-old Serbian was yesterday given a six-month jail term after pleading guilty to the theft of a quantity of alcohol.

Branko Marklovic pleaded guilty to stealing an undisclosed number of bottles of alcohol and other items from the Arcadia supermarket in St Julian’s on and before 23 January. He was, however, cleared of handling stolen property. The court, presided over by Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment.

Police inspectors Martin Sammut and Carmelo Abdilla prosecuted.
