Parliament: Crane Causes power outages

The reason for the electricity supply to the area around Luqa Briffa Street and Giacint Tua Street in Gzira repeatedly failing, with surges when the power returns, has been found to be due to a tower crane that was connected to this circuit, Investment, Industry and IT Minister Austin Gatt told Labour MP Evarist Bartolo.

Now that the tower crane has been connected to another circuit, the system has reverted to normal.

PM’s hospitality

The Office of the Prime Minister spent Lm71,000 in lunches and hospitality last year, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Labour MP Noel Farrugia. The Finance Ministry spent a further Lm40,000.
