This year’s Corporate Social Responsibility Day, organised annually on 19 March, feast of St Joseph, will see a number of companies joining forces, with the aim of helping people in need.

Staff from leading companies, including Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, Gasan Group of Companies, Mizzi Organisation, Vodafone Malta Ltd, M. Demajo Group, Middlesea Group and HSBC Malta will be giving up their time on a public holiday to help various homes by pitching in on maintenance works and landscaping. Corinthia Hotels International will also be making a monetary donation towards the event.

Work during this year’s CSR Day will be carried out in six homes. Gasan staff will be working at the Young People’s Unit at Mount Carmel Hospital, while Vodafone staff will be working at an Agenzija Appogg Residence. Work at the Good Shepherd Home for Refugees will be done by the M. Demajo Group, while Middlesea Group will be helping at St Joseph Home in Sta Venera, and Farsons together with Mizzi Organisation will be rolling up their sleeves at the Cospicua residence of Agenzija Appogg. HSBC staff will be working at St Patrick’s Home in Sliema.

“With the help of hundreds of volunteers from Malta’s leading companies, 19 March has turned into a special day for businesses in Malta. Every year, organisations and their employees give up their holiday on the feast of St Joseph in order to make a qualitative leap in the life of all those who reside in these homes,” said Catherine Gonzi, chairperson, HSBC Cares For Children Fund, which organises the annual CSR day.

Every year, more organisations are roped in, making the event bigger and better. Volunteers will have all hands on deck to clean and clear open areas, paint walls, doors and windows, install electric cabling, secure light fittings, replace broken window panes, and upgrade plumbing.
