Fr Paul Sapiano OP is the new parish priest at Jesus of Nazareth Church in Sliema, succeeding Archbishop Paul Cremona OP, who held the position until he was consecrated on 26 January.

Fr Sapiano was born in Rabat on 28 August 1944. He joined the Dominican order in 1957 and was consecrated priest on 3 July 1966.

He studied theology in France, where he also followed a two-year course in catechism. Back in Malta, he worked with the diocese’s catechism commission.

Fr Sapiano left for Brazil in 1977, where he worked in various regions and parishes until 2002, when he returned to Malta.

At present, he is the prior at Jesus of Nazareth Church and he also works with the catechism commission.
