New Publication on industrial relations in Malta

Malta Independent Saturday, 5 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The author and co-author of the book Labour and Industrial Relations in Malta, Prof. Edward Zammit and Dr Edward Brincat, have presented a copy of their recent publication to Education Minister Louis Galea.

This is the first publication of its kind to combine both the institutional context and the legal framework of industrial relations in Malta. Since Malta’s EU accession, the laws and regulations governing the subject have been significantly expanded and this publication presents an updated summary of the current situation.

Another feature of the publication, which is likely to be particularly appreciated by practitioners, is that the laws are illustrated with references to some of the important cases in the field and to the relevant decisions of the industrial tribunal. In addition, there are chapters giving the historical, social and economic environments that are essential for any serious analysis of industrial relations.

Edward Zammit and Matthew Brincat: Labour Law and Industrial Relations in Malta. (2006: 244pp) published by Kluwer Law International as Volume 314 of the International Encyclopaedia of Laws (General Editor: Prof. R. Blanpain, Leuven University).
