Malta Independent Monday, 7 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Razzett tal-Hbiberija, which offers recreational and therapeutic services to persons with disability, will be holding the sixth edition of the Swimathon Challenge, between Wednesday 23 and Sunday 27 May at the razzett’s indoor pool in Marsascala.

The razzett provides its services free of charge to over 1,000 children and adults with a disability. Its running costs are over Lm400,000 annually.

Professionals and amateur swimmers, schoolchildren, groups of friends, companies, sports groups, youth centres, girl guides, scouts groups, persons with disability and everyone willing to take a challenge, are all invited to take part in this event. Proceeds from the event will be in aid of the Razzett tal-Hbiberija’s disability programmes.

The pool lanes will be open from Wednesday 23 May to Friday 25 May from 9am to 9pm and Saturday 26 May and Sunday 27 May from 9am to 5pm.

Funds are collected only through official sponsor sheets, which will be given to every participant once they are registered to participate. This year there will also be a gifts scheme for those who will be collecting money in aid of the Razzett tal-Hbiberija.

With the aim of increasing the number of participants, the lanes can be booked to a maximum of two hours per individual or per team.

All those willing to participate in the event can book their lanes by contacting Keith Zerafa at the razzett on tel.: 2163-6526 or by sending an email to [email protected].
