Blessed Gorg Preca’s Reliquary

Malta Independent Wednesday, 30 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The photograph shows the reliquary containing the blood of Blessed Gorg Preca, who will be canonised on Sunday. The reliquary, kept at San Gejtanu parish church in Hamrun, is being taken to Rome for the canonisation ceremony. It will subsequently be exposed for worship in Gozo and then in Malta. The blood was donated by Dr Lawrence Spiteri, the priest’s doctor, who in all had three small vials of Dun Gorg’s blood. One of them he donated to the MUSEUM society, which Dun Gorg founded, and the third he retained. The reliquary, made by Cutajar Works, was designed by Renzo Gauci and the models of the three angels accompanying it are the work of Joe Galea
