The Philatelic Bureau of Maltapost will be issuing a special occasion card to mark a scouting activity known as the Scouting Sunrise.
This activity is being organised by the Scouts Association of Malta, and will be held at the Floriana Granaries on Tuesday and Wednesday, with all scouting countries and territories worldwide, to mark the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the world Scout Movement in 1907.
The occasion card depicts the chief scout of the world, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, in 1937 during the last of his several visits to Malta.
The imprinted stamp has a face value of 51c/EUR1.19, and is one of a set of four originally designed by artist Luciano Micallef and issued on 21 July 1993.
The occasion card will be available from the Maltapost Mobile Unit on the Floriana Granaries on Tuesday from 6.30pm, and on the following day between 8am and 10am, and from the Maltapost Retail Outlet, in Dar Annona, Castill Square, Valletta as from 1 August, between 8.15am and 3.45pm.
The card can also be ordered from the Philatelic Bureau of Maltapost (tel.: 2596-1747; email: philately@maltapost. com; postal address: 305, Triq Hal Qormi, Marsa, MTP1001).
In addition, a special hand postmark – “Scouting Sunrise” – will be in use at the Maltapost retail outlet in Dar Annona, Castille Square, Valletta, on Wednesday between 8.15am and 3.45pm. Envelopes pre-franked with this special hand postmark can also be ordered from the Philatelic Bureau.
