A St Julian’s man was yesterday fined Lm263 and given a two-year jail term suspended for four years for aggravated theft.
Malcolm Mifsud, 20, was found guilty of stealing cash and other items from Maxim’s Junior on 31 March 2005 in St Paul’s Bay.
He was, however, cleared of handling stolen property and causing Lm10 damage to the premises.
The court, presided over by magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera ordered the accused to pay Lm263 in fees and jailed him for two years suspended for four. She also ordered that he be placed under the supervision of a probation officer.
Police inspector Carmelo Magri prosecuted.
