Malta Independent Thursday, 6 September 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

In the co-branding agreement between Malta and Nikon-Italia last May, 27 top European Nikon photographers had the opportunity to shoot Malta for the selection of two images used by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) for future advertising campaigns.

Out of a cache of 4,000 images, Malta’s own Rene Rossignaud’s image Sunset Over Valletta was selected by The Gate publications, Nikon and MTA as the winning photograph.

Mr Rossignaud’s image, Malta, un Ritratto d’Autore toured Italy throughout July.

It could be seen gracing the sides and backs of buses in Milan, Turin and Rome, wrapping mini taxis in Rome, on metro posters in Milan and Rome and on billboards around the three cosmopolitan cities.

Italy’s most popular publications, such as Repubblica Venerdì, Panorama and others promoted the distribution of three million flyers around the country.

The second tranche will continue this month.

A roaming exhibition with 54-60 of the best photographs enlarged, will be held at the end of this year to conclude the campaign, courtesy of Nikon – Italia.

The exhibition will then move from Malta to the UK, Athens, Italy and other countries.
