Following the commencement of the Qortin public consultation process concerning the design for a Family Recreational Park earlier last month, WasteServ has announced two public consultation meetings for the general public.
One will take place on Friday 23rd November at 5pm for Xaghra Residents at the MCAST Centre Hall in Xaghra, and the other on Saturday 24th November at 10am for the general public at the exhibition hall, Ministry for Gozo, St. Francis Square, Victoria.
WasteServ would also like to remind the public that the consultation period has been extended until the end of November and would also like to thank the public, which has come forward with suggestions and ideas for the rehabilitated area. The public is invited to continue to come forward with more ideas and proposals and to attend the meetings in order to get informed about the proposed project.
The closed Qortin landfill in Gozo is currently being utilised as a temporary waste transfer station, where from there, non-inert and non-hazardous waste originating from Gozo and Comino is transported to the Ghallis engineered landfill or waste recyclers in Malta. It is projected that the Park will be completed within two years from the issue of all permits.
