A new road in Hamrun was yesterday named after Police Constable Roger Debattista who was killed while he was guarding a bank in Qormi. The ceremony was organised by Hamrun local council and the Police.
Hamrun mayor Luciano Busuttil, Police Commissioner John Rizzo, high-ranking police officials and the Debattista family were among those present.
The ceremony started with the Police Band marching from Triq il-Fatati, accompanied by members of the Police Dog Section, of which Constable Debattista was a member for 12 years.
Constable Debattista, 34, was a member of the police force for 15 years when he was killed while guarding the bank branch in Qormi on 12 November, 2001.
