A 38-year-old man from Msida was yesterday charged with acting as a pimp for his own wife and living off the earnings of prostitution.

The man, whose name cannot be published following a court order, pleaded not guilty to the charges, before presiding magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera, living off the earnings of prostitution and running a brothel in January.

He was also charged with stealing a ring worth less than e233/Lm100 between May and July 2004.

Magistrate Scerri Herrera refused to grant the man bail and remanded him in custody.

Police inspector Louise Calleja prosecuted while Dr Emmanuel Mallia and Dr Giannella Caruana Curran appeared for the accused.
