Former Nationalist Party Councillor Joseph Borda yesterday sued One News editor Miriam Dalli and journalist Charlon Gouder claiming that a news item carried on One TV on 1 February was defamatory and libellous.

The former Valletta vice-mayor claimed that One News had lied and aimed to damage his reputation by falsely claiming that he had been found guilty of stealing money, that he had been fired from his job by Minister Jesmond Mugliett and that he is employed with Minister Francis Zammit Dimech.

He also claimed that contrary to what has been portrayed by the TV station, he was no longer a Nationalist Party councillor.

Lawyers Malcolm Mifsud and Cedric Mifsud signed the writ.
