The year 2008 marks the 100th anniversary of Scouting in Malta and in celebration, a number of activities will be organised throughout the year. A seminar organised by The Training and Programme Department of The Scout Association of Malta is the first event being held as part of these Centenary Celebrations.

The theme chosen for the seminar is “Make a difference….you can!” and is aimed at all Scouters and adult leaders (18 and over) within the Association. The seminar will be held tomorrow at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

One of the main guest speakers at this conference will be Tomaz Strajnar, who is a member of the Adult Resources Core Group of the European Scout Region as well as occupying the post of Chief Commissioner of the Slovenian Scout Association.

Following the Movement’s 100th anniversary of worldwide scouting last year, the Scout Association of Malta, in its first centenary, is now looking forward to the challenges lying ahead.

The primary objective of this seminar is to bring to the forefront the issues in today’s scouting experience, and come up with practical solutions on how these can be addressed effectively.

This will be achieved by involving feedback from the younger members of the Association to ensure that the future of Scouting is in line with their expectations, as well as various workshops which will be organised at this seminar.

The recommendations arising from this conference will be compiled in a report which will be presented to the Scout Association of Malta.
