A Libyan man was remanded in custody yesterday after he pleaded not guilty to importing three kilogrammes of heroin.
Before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli, Abuagila KH. Elwahishi, 30, pleaded not guilty to drug importation charges, as well as to conspiring to traffic in heroin and being in possession of the drug in circumstances denoting that it was not for his exclusive use.
The Libyan driver was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon allegedly carrying three kilogrammes of heroin in a false bottom in his bag at Malta International Airport.
Police Inspectors Pierre Grech and Victor Aquilina prosecuted while Dr Renzo Porsella Flores was legal aid to the accused.
