Fgura-Luqa SA 2-1
The first-half was a balanced affair with Fgura going very close early on as a shot by Christian Bordieri was well saved by Paul Psaila.
Luqa replied through dangerous attempts by Owen Psaila and Jason Good while Fgura wasted a clear goal scoring opportunity through Vince Testaferrata.
However on 39 minutes Fgura opened the score when a low shot by Daniel Said hit the upright and VINCE TESTAFERRATA scored from the rebound.
Luqa’s reaction produced a shot by Marco Sultana which finished just high over the bar but they were drew level two minutes into injury-time through MARK SAID.
In the 66th minute Fgura were given a penalty for a handling infringement by Luqa’s defender Oliver Cutajar. There were protests by the Luqa players and Marco Sultana was sent off before CLINT ELLUL converted from the spot to give Fgura a 2-1 lead which they kept till the end.

Ghaxaq-Gharghur 2-3
Ghaxaq broke the deadlock after just four minutes with JOHAN ZAMMIT heading in past Mark Aquilina from a cross by Kim Caruana. Gharghur’s reaction paid off in the 19th minute when they were given a penalty for a foul by Clayton Xuereb on Gharghur’s striker Ivan Ebejer.
Ghaxaq were reduced to ten players as Xuereb was sent off and MARK DECESARE duly converted from the spot to make it one-all.
The second period was an exciting affair with Gharghur dictating the run of play.
However Gharghur did manage to take the lead in the 66th minute as MARK DECESARE headed in from close-range but a minute later Ghaxaq made it two-all through JOHAN ZAMMIT’s second goal.
Then Ghaxaq wasted a sitter through Bjorn Dalli and nine minutes from time Gharghur scored the winning goal through substitute NEVILLE ARPA with Ghaxaq disputing the goal for an alleged offside position.

Qrendi-Sirens 0-2
Sirens opened the score after just two minutes through a low shot by GLENN GATT following a personal effort with
The Sirens’ keeper was again on hand in the 26th minute to stop a Stephen Said cross-shot but although Qrendi maintained the initiative, it was Sirens who created goal scoring opportunities through Giovanni Galea and Stefan Azzopardi.
Qrendi created another opportunity through Beppe Vella in the second half but it was Sirens who managed to increase their lead on 74 minutes with GLENN GATT heading in from a Stefan Azzopardi free-kick.

Section B
Zejtun C.-Kirkop 0-0
Zejtun Corinthians were the better team during the first-half and after 16 minutes they were denied by Cardona off a Jean Paul Abela free-kick.
A minute later a header by Brian Testaferrata was cleared off the goal line by Kirkop’s defender Bryan Falzon and on another occasion another free-kick well taken by Jean Paul Abela was again saved by Cardona.
Zejtun maintained the initiative throughout the second-half and they wasted a glaring opportunity on 52 minutes through Edward Borg who shot high in front of an open goal.
Late in the match Kirkop were close through an Albert Busuttil direct free-kick.

Pembroke-St Lucia 1-3
The Saints were the better vteam throughout the first-half and after just two minutes a point-blank effort by Liam Cutajar was blocked by Mark Sciberras.
In the 9th minute Cutajar had a shot which was cleared off the goal by Trevor Naudi but Santa Lucia took a deserved lead in the 20th minute through BRIAN CHETCUTI following yet another good move by Liam Cutajar.
Pembroke drew level on 35 minutes through STEVE MICALLEF but barely two minutes later the Saints regained their lead through a low shot by EMANUEL CUTAJAR following a personal effort.
Pembroke gained the initiative after the change of ends with the Saints ending up with ten players in the 64th minute when Baldassare Borg was sent off for an ugly foul on Andrew Scerri.
Five minutes later Pembroke had Edward Zammit Tabona sent off for a second booking and in the 73rd minute they were unlucky as a Luke Desira free-kick bounced off the crossbar.
Then the Saints wasted a clear opportunity through Liam Cutajar with Pembroke continuing to push forward in the closing stages. However three minutes into injury-time the Saints sealed the issue with a third goal scored by substitute ANTHONY BRIGNONE.

Zurrieq-Mtarfa 1-0
Zurrieq dominated the proceedings during the first-half and created various goal scoring opportunities.
They were denied by Mtarfa’s goalkeeper Kurt Gatt off attempts by Godfrey Chetcuti and Clayton Gatt but they were other near misses, especially through Chetcuti.
In the 32nd minute Zurrieq were unlucky as a Chris Farrugia free-kick was turned onto the crossbar by Kurt Gatt and later on two dangerous efforts by Chetcuti just missed the target.
In a counter-attack Mtarfa wasted a clear opportunity through Adam Wingfield.
Zurrieq maintained the initiative throughout the second period but they were better controlled by their opponents.
Early on Zurrieq were very close through a point-blank shot by Josef Briffa which was blocked by Gatt and the same player hit just wide on 53 minutes.
Then attempts by Jeffrey Camilleri and Clayton Gatt finished just high over the bar and on another occasion a shot by Clive Shumba was well saved by Kurt Gatt.
The match seemed heading towards a goalless stalemate but four minutes into injury-time Zurrieq scored a dramatic winning goal through substitute DANIEL ZAMMIT.
