Officials from the Sheffield United Football Club visited St. Nicholas College Secondary School at Mtarfa.
The group of officials from the Sheffield United Football Club, which plays in the English Championship, were on a visit to Malta recently.
At the Mtarfa Secondary School they were accompanied by the international Maltese goalkeeper Justin Haber, who is also a player on their books. The visit to Malta was sponsored by the Malta Tourism Authority.
Members of the school administration took the Sheffield United officials round the school premises which used to serve as a British Naval Hospital in the past. The Sheffield United officials gave a power-point presentation portraying the organisation of the Sheffield United Club.
Later, the ex-international footballer Tom Currie, who presently is a member of the Sheffield United Coaching Football Staff, performed a football training session with a group of students from the Mtarfa Secondary School. The Sheffield United officials ended their visit by donating a set of football kits which will be worn by the students while playing against other schools.
This visit was successful through the great collaboration of the Sports Promotion Unit, Ministry for Education Youth and Sport together with The Malta Sports Council.
