Qormi immediately took control and pinned Sliema in their own half. Qormi were playing fast geometrical passes but rarely troubled Mallia in Sliema’s goal.

However on the 14th Qormi won a short corner. The ball was played out to Andre Ghio at the top of the D passed to Steve Tanti who in turn passed to the unmarked Philip Magri at the far post for the latter to slot the ball home.

During the first half Qormi had other chances to increase the lead but they always found Mallia coping well with their attempts.

In the second half the same pattern of play ensued, but Sliema also had their chances.

On the 42nd a fast counter attack conducted between Scicluna and Baldacchino ended with the latter hitting wide.

On the 54th Lukas Plaehn dribbled his way into the Qormi circle but his angled hit was saved by Chircop in goal.

Though Qormi kept the upper hand throughout, they just could not increase their lead.

Laferla Ins. White Hart 1

The first half was quite a balanced affair with both teams containing each other in midfield.

On the 21st Paul Torpiano for White hart just missed the target from a short corner action. But the goal was in the air and on the 24th from another Short Corner, Luke Borg Costanzi beat Mizzi in the Floriana goal with a well placed flick.

A minute later Carl Tua could have doubled when he was put through by Torpiano. For this miss White Hart paid dearly when on the 30th Ivan Magro spearheaded his way into the White Hart circle only to be fouled on entering the D and from the penalty spot Edward Hughes made no mistake.

On the change of ends Floriana immediately pressed forward and after Vassallo Agius foiled Camilleri with an in extremis save was beaten on the 7th with a scorching reverse hit by Edward Hughes.

For the remainder of the second half White Hart could not get their act together and had to suffer an onslaught by the Floriana forwards who however could not add to their tally.

The present League table shows Qormi leading with eleven points followed by Floriana on ten and in third place Rabat with nine after the three teams have played seven matches.

Next Sunday Young Stars will face Qormi for another top of the table clash.
