With a nine point cushion at the top of the table, Inter could be forgiven for having one eye on their upcoming clash with Manchester United in the Champions League when they travel to lowly Bologna today.
Inter host Manchester United on Tuesday, while Juventus and AS Roma travel to London to meet Chelsea and Arsenal respectively.
All three are playing today to give them an extra day to prepare for their Champions League matches.
Inter have a comfortable lead over Juventus and will seek to press their advantage during a busy time of the year, but face a tricky match away to Bologna.
Bologna need points to avoid slipping closer to the relegation zone - they are just three points above the drop zone - but boast the league's leading scorer in Marco Di Vaio, who has hit 16 goals so far this season.
Midfielder Luigi Lavecchia said Bologna are confident that they can take advantage of any lack of concentration on Inter's part.
"Today's match with Inter is very open because of where we are in the season. Of course Inter are stronger than us," Lavecchia said, "but they will be thinking of Tuesday's match with Manchester United.
"They have won the championship for a few years and now the Champions League has become more important than the title."
Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is someone the Inter players know well having been a former player there and assistant coach to Roberto Mancini - Jose Mourinho's predecessor at Inter.
Juventus also face a difficult away fixture at Palermo and will hope to improve on their performance the last time they were in Sicily.
Two weeks ago, a Christian Poulsen goal in injury time gave Claudio Ranieri's team a 2-1 win, but it was a poor performance and the team will need to build some momentum ahead of its midweek trip to Stamford Bridge.
One player expecting a big performance is the team's leading scorer, Amauri, who was bought from Palermo in the summer.
So far the Brazilian has hit 12 goals this season and last year hit 15 for the Sicilians.
"I had two great years with Palermo and will return to a stadium that has a lot of meaning for me and it will be an emotional time. Out of respect for the team that allowed me to take a step up in quality, I will not celebrate if I score," he promised.
Coach Ranieri meanwhile is increasingly coming under fire for a team lacking in fitness and inspiration, with question marks over his own future beyond the season's end.
"We now need to win three points and hope that the others trip up. We have to be positive as we are coming to the crucial part of the season and restarting the Champions League. We always have to play to the best of our ability," Ranieri said.
"It has been a long while since we've created so few scoring chances. There are golden moments when everything you do comes easily and others when they don't come easily."
Roma host Siena following a 3-0 defeat in their last match, against Atalanta. A win would put them back into contention for the Champions League qualification places, but there are fears that Luciano Spalletti's side could be without first choice goalkeeper Doni, who has back problems.
Also missing will be Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta, who are both suspended.
Opponents Siena are having a mixed season and currently sit in the lower half of the table.
However, coach Marco Giampaolo is confident his team can go to Rome's Stadio Olimpico and repeat the 1-0 win from earlier in the season.
"Against Roma we won't play defensively, we won't go there to give them points," Giampaolo said. "We want to take a positive result back with us, it is part of our mentality. For Roma there isn't a weak link and there isn't a player who doesn't know what to do with the ball."
