Vittoriosa and Dingli crossed swords in the second encounter of the afternoon at the Victor Tedesco stadium. Both sides were comfortably positioned in the table although Vittoriosa had three points deducted due to the controversial Cospicua game.
The first quarter of the half produced nothing much in terms of action although Mark Galea hit the post on 17 minutes after a cross by Roderick Spiteri for Dingli. The Dingli boys took the lead a few minutes later when some fine work by Galea ended up with Anuanna smashing into the net from close range.
Dingli doubled on 26 minutes when Anuanna went on a solo run and after turning two defenders hit a fine low shot into the back of the net. Birgu reacted on 35 minutes with a header by Abela but his effort was well saved by Farrugia.
However it was Dingli who almost trebled on 38 minutes when a cross by Anuanna almost ended up in the back of the net but Vittoriosa managed to clear.
The second half began with Birgu on the attack but after a fine run, Eviparker’s cross did not find anyone who could connect with it.
