The Malta Boxing Federation has made public a letter received recently from AIBA President Dr. Ching KU-WU, in which the latter confirmed the world association’s acceptance of the Maltese Federation as a member.

MBF President Anthony Willoughby welcomed this long awaited news, which has opened new horizons to those athletes who wish to train and participate at a higher level of boxing.

It also means that, at long last, the association is able to look forward to the day when boxing in Malta is fully regulated and practised under AIBA standards.

It is a fact that in Malta we still have a number of people involved in boxing who are not keen to join the AIBA family. These individuals are urged to keep in mind the welfare of their boxers and moreover to focus on the fact that there is no safer way to practise and participate in the noble sport of boxing as under AIBA standards.
