Neil Agius and Talisa Pace set a new national and age group records respectively in the third ASA meeting held at Tal-Qroqq national pool on Saturday. This event was sponsored by Vileda and the public present for the swim meet were presented with Vileda goods.
Agius improved the 800 metres freestyle national record he set earlier this month by over two seconds when he covered the distance in 8 minutes 49.44 seconds, while Pace swam the 50 metres free in 28.04 seconds, clipping two-hundredths of a second off her own previous Group D limit.
In addition to the encouraging number of Maltese swimmers, there was also the participation of two French clubs, Stade Francais Olympique Curgevois and AS Plessis-Savigny, and Bracknell & Wokingham from England, with some swimmers from these clubs recording impressive times in a number of events.
Swimmers from the foremost local clubs also braved the cold temperatures to produce some encouraging performances, while Birkirkara St Joseph, made up of swimmers in the Masters Category, complemented the number of participants which totalled 143.
