The first Selection Shoot for The GSSE’s in Double Trap was organised by The Malta Shooting Sport Federation in Bidnija on Sunday.
Remarkable scores were achieved under the supervision of coach Jimmy Bugeja.
Top ranked Maltese Double Trap shooter William Chetcuti managed 47/50 in his first round, another 47/50 in his second and 45 in his third round. This meant a total of 139/150, that is, 21 clays more than the ISSF MQS(118/150)
He was followed by junior Derek Bonanno who managed 46-44-44, for a total of 134/150 which is also higher than the ISSF MQS.
Another junior shooter, Nathan Lee Xuereb, placed third with 37-37-40, for a total of 114/150. Matthew Grech was fourth with 34-42-32=108/150 and Kirsten Briffa fifth with 29-37-33=99/150
Clive Farrugia wins Keepers Skeet trophy
The Skeet Selection also started this weekend on 125 clays where Silvio Attard leads with 114/125, which is an ISSF MQS in Skeet.
The overall Trophy winner after the barrage finals was Clive Farrugia with 112+24=136 + shoot off+3.
Silvio Attard placed second with 114+22=136+shoot off +2 and Darren Vella placed third with 108+23=131. Paul Vella was fourth with 127, Paul Sant fifth on 126 and Max Fenech sixth on 124,.
The MSSF Annual General meeting was organised on Saturday and was also attended by some distinguished guests that included Parliamentary Secretary Clyde Puli, PL MP Chris Agius and MOC director Mark Cutajar.
