Overseas started the game at great pace, crashing their runners through the 10 channel, forcing the Stompers onto the back foot, under pressure, just on their 22-metre line, Stompers gave away a penalty, which was duly slotted by scrumhalf Vince Stivala.
But Stompers showed their skills with quick ball from rucks and scrums to their runners out wide, to quickly score at the other end.
Overseas were rattled again with another two quick tries as Stompers quickly recycled ball and moved it through the hands to their wingers.
Stompers were playing into the wind, but were making all the plays and not allowing the Overseas to build any phases, several times stealing balls at the tackle and moving it away from the big Overseas forwards.
Overseas had some fine individual breaks but often they fizzled out due to a lack of support players to pass to.
The second half saw two players sent to the sin bin, one from each team as they pushed and shoved each other off the ball. Then Mario Fountain was red carded for an act of aggression on his own line, against an Overseas player.
A fired up Overseas team began to play rugby again and took the game to the Stompers, with some barging runs from the sturdy Clayton Cassar and the confident and determined flanker Joe Wilson who managed to read the game well, anticipating at times the opponents moves.
Vince Stivala had been moved from scrum half to stand-off half, were he began to direct play from there, scoring a good try himself. Piers Allen also scored, planting a reward for his persistent chase of the loose ball.
Overseas got to within one point of the Stompers but ran out of time, with the game finishing at 25-24 to Stompers.
