On Saturday the Marsa C.C played Melita C.C in the winter league.
The Melita team batted first. Joy Ghoseroy and Andy Lenard opened the batting. Lenard was caught on the fourth ball of the first over. Ghoseroy managed to top score for his team scoring 47 runs. Justin Brooke was going along nicely until he was bowled for 16 runs. Anthony Roberts scored 20 runs including four fours where boundaries in the conditions were not easy to find.
The Melita team totalled 127 runs from their allotted overs. For the Marsa team, Ronnie Sacco took four wickets while Dimitri Zaf took two being the main wicket takers.
In reply Marsa were looking for a win to try and keep up with Krishna in the points table.
Mike Caruana and Ronnie Sacco opened the batting. Together they put on a 67-run partnership before Sacco was caught. He had scored 40 runs including four fours. Javed Shah scored 13 runs before being bowled.
Dimitri Zaf was also bowled, for nine runs, both batsmen by Will Nicholls. Sarfraz Ali came to the crease. He and Caruana managed to take the score to an even 127 runs with one over to go, therefore needing one run to win.
Ali was facing the last over and Will Nicholls was the bowler. The fielders were in to save the single. Five balls were bowled and no single had been taken. The last ball was bowled, and unfortunately Ali was run out and the game was a tie. Nicholls managed to bowl a maiden.
From this game the Marsa C.C team managed four points while Melita C.C managed five.
Next Saturday Melita C.C play Krishna C.C in the winter league starting at 12 noon.In the morning the nursery will be from 9.30am till 11.30am
