Mosta lost the chance to go joint second in the table when they were held to a draw by bottom club Senglea Athletics yesterday evening.
Mosta took the lead on 13 minutes with the first chance of the match when Calabretta shrugged off his marker and concluded with ease past a hapless Attard. Camenzuli also had a good chance to double for Mosta on 19 minutes but his low shot was well saved by Attard as Senglea seemed to be demoralised.
Senglea managed to equalise on the half hour when new entrant Felice concluded after rounding Debono in a good solo effort.
The second half took some time to get going and Mosta should have re-taken the lead on 56 minutes when both Calabretta and Camenzuli fluffed an excellent chance in front of goal.
However Mosta did not have to wait long as they were again in the lead on 59 minutes after an exchange between Borg and Calabretta who released Camenzuli for the latter to simply slot into an empty net. Calabretta was guilty of missing a great chance to put the game beyond reach but he concluded wide from an excellent position.
After a period of sustained pressure, Senglea equalised through a penalty which was coolly converted by Aquilina.
In the end the sharing of the spoils was a fair result although Mosta missed an incredible chance when Vella shot well over the bar with four players chasing an empty net.
