A delegation from the Birkirkara Youth Nursery earlier this month visited the Atalanta Settore Giovanile (Yotuh Sector). This was one of the various yearly visits that Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery tend to keep in their calendar since they were affiliated with the Serie A based Settore Giovanile of Atalanta. The affiliation already started to blossom, and the club reached very important milestones.
Chairman Henry Bray took the opportunity to train and assess the new recruited coaches, and help them familiarise with the methods and ethics of Atalanta Settore Giovanile. The coaches were given different tutorials and assisted various training sessions and were given a detailed tour of the headquarters, training grounds and sporting facilities by Atalanta headcoach Stefano Bonacorso and coach Andrea Pandolfi.
The delegation were invited by the Atalanta coaching staff to attend a regional instructional meeting. In the instructional meeting a good number of coaches and officials from the Lombardy and Trentino Alto Adige district attended for this highly expected meeting. Present were also coaches from Portsmouth FC and Leicester City FC.
The meeting which was conducted by Atalanta Scuola Calcio fitness coach Matteo Moranda, focused on power and strength. Apart from theory, the Birkirkara coaches participated in the practical session which based mainly on endurance tests, different training sessions and variations to improve the performance.
The coaches and committee members of Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery had the unique opportunity to watch closely and meet the Atalanta FC senior squad including well-known players such as coach Luigi Del Neri, Cristiano Doni, Christian Vieri, Sergio Floccari and others.
The players welcomed the Maltese very warmly and were very happy with the dedication and enthusiasm that Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery is offering.
In one of his comments, Del Neri said that he knew very well about our country and the affiliation between the two clubs and wished Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery a very prospective future full of success.
The Maltese delegation from Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery was made up of chairman Henry Bray, treasurer Robert Bray, ground manager Charles Camenzuli and coaches Max Zammit, Darren Farrugia and Roderick Micallef.
