Malta Independent Saturday, 28 March 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Shaun Parnis has lost his first encounter in the Lawn Bowls World Cup in Warilla, Australia, but then managed to win his second and third matches.

In the first match he went down to Fairul Muin of Malaysia who has been described as next to “perfect” in the sport.

Malaysian bowls sources have said that this player is even better than current world champion Safuan Said, also a Malaysian.

Malaysian players are full time players, and subsidised by their Government owned Bowling Academy

Parnis then went on to beat China’s Bing Cheung in his second gamne and followed that up with a second win, this time against a South African player, thus making it two wins from three matches.
