MAAC held its second field target match this year at the Victoria Shooters Range, Tal-Handaq, Qormi.
This was an Open match, and as expected, 100% of all the competitors competed with Pre Charged Pneumatic air rifles.
With power levels varying from 12ftlbs up to 35ftlbs and calibers from .177 - .22, MAAC member competitors took the challenge on a gruesome 30 target course of two rounds with 15 targets each.
In this event, no designated prone shots were fixed but a shooter could shoot this position when a freestyle shot was applied. 30% of the total targets were designated shots of standing and kneeling with the rest being freestyle.
A freestyle target can be taken in either one of the four positions allowed in Field Target which are standing, kneeling, prone and sitting. The weather was fine except for some NW wind gusts that were prominent for shooters in the second group. Despite this, the match was balanced and all shooters had satisfactory results.
James Bugeja (23/30) took lead of the match ending with single point difference over David Gardina (22/30). Alfred Cini made a comeback today after sorting some technical problems he encountered earlier this year. Alfred claimed the third place with a score of 21/30.
The top five shooters today ranked as follows.1. James Bugeja - Daystate Harrier - 23/30 2. David Gardina - Steyr LG110 FT - 22/30 3. Alfred Cini - AA S410 - 21/30 4.
