BASKETBALL: Malta Team for the U-18 Euro championship selected

The FIBA Europe Under 18 Women Division C Championship will be held in Malta between 14 and 18 July.

This will be the second consecutive time and the third occasion that the Malta Basketball Association will host this tournament.

The last edition was in 2007 when Malta won the gold medal for the first time in the competition.

Together with Malta there will be four national teams taking part in this championship which will be played on a round robin method. These are Luxembourg, Moldova, Gibraltar and Monaco.

National coach Sandro Farrugia and his assistant Emilio Trivelli chose the following players to form the Maltese national squad.

Lisa Pace, Elena Cassar, Kristy Tonna, Louisa Serge, Becky Naudi, Steffi De Martino, Kelly Busuttil, Kristina Martinelli, Emma Micallef, Justine Busuttil Gaerthy, Justine Xuereb, Andrea Mifsud.

The first game will be played on Tuesday 14 July at 4.30pm between Moldova and Monaco. After the game there will be the opening ceremony followed by the first game of the Maltese national team versus Luxembourg at approximetaly 6.45pm. The presence of the Maltese public and its support will be an extra asset for our youngsters.
