Malta Independent Friday, 10 July 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A presentation was held recently at Senglea Nursery’s Club, regarding the Summer Sports Activities which Senglea Nursery will be organising, on a six-week time span.

The Senglea Nursery President, Stephen Spiteri, presented these activities as a means of leisure and entertainment during the summer season. Senglea Nursery’s activities are open to all Senglea’s youths and youngsters under the age of 16 and a variety of activities are offered in order to suit all types of likes and preferences.

These activities are being organised for the second consecutive year, after last year’s enormous success, with over 80 participants, who participated in the various activities with great enthusiasm and eagerness.

Spiteri explained that this project initiated last year, when Senglea Nursery was contacted by the SajfAttiv organisers, in order to have Senglea Nursery organise the sports activities.

Senglea Nursery accepted this proposal and organised all the sports activities free of charge for all of Senglea’s boys and girls. All the effort made in organising such activities was rewarded by the YFA, where Senglea Nursery won the prize as best Malta’s nursery in organising Summer activities (together with Mgarr’s nursery), and was also placed second by the UEFA for the organisation of these activities.

This year, Senglea Nursery decided to re-organise these activities and together with last year activities, it added some new ones. In all there are over 15 activities in which one can participate also choosing in how many activities they wish to take part. These include board games, swimming races, sprints, basketball shoot-outs, penalty shoot-outs, playstation tournaments, billiards and table soccer.

This year, apart from these competitive games, Senglea Nursery is also organising swimming training lessons, regatta training, lessons in the bocci game and tuition of band instruments.

Spiteri asserted that all these activities will be free of charge and all participants will be presented with a participation medal and winners will be given a trophy. During this presentation of Senglea Nursery’s Summer Activities, in a hall packed with participants and their parents, the draws were made for the activities to start.

The Senglea Nursery committee is doing its best to bring together Senglea’s youths and youngsters and encourage them to enrol with the Nursery, where not just football is practised. It is also offering a variety of sports and activities to aid these participants both physically and physiologically in a friendly, safe and enthusiastic environment.
