Xghajra-Qrendi 3-2

Qrendi opened the score after just three minutes with Ian Azzopardi shooting in past Roderick Camilleri from close range.

It took just six minutes for Xghajra to draw level through Chris Zammit and then they were twice denied by Qrendi's goalkeeper David Farrugia off shots Jonathan Cachia and Chris Zammit.

At the other end, Qrendi had a long range effort by Robert Darmanin which was turned onto the crossbar by the Xghajra goalie. On another occasion a Matthew Genuis free-kick just missed the target.

In the 34th minute Xghajra's striker Jonathan Cachia shot just wide and a minute before the break Qrendi were close through Aaron Pendry from a Genuis free-kick.

Qrendi had the better goal scoring opportunities after the change of ends and early on they were twice very close through Aaron Pendry. Xghajra replied through a shot by Jonathan Cachia which was saved by Farrugia. In the 61st minute the Xghajra keeper brought off an excellent save to deny Pendry.

On 70 minutes Qrendi took a deserved lead through Ian Darmanin but barely a minute later Xghajra were once again back on level terms at 2-2 as Chris Zammit managed to beat Farrugia from close range.

Late in the match Xghajra were denied by Farrugia off a point-blank attempt by Alex Azzopardi and in 88th minute they were reduced to ten players as Anton Muscat was sent off for a second caution.

Despite this handicap, Xghajra managed to score the goal that mattered in added time through substitute Neil Attard.

Attard-Swieqi U 0-1

(Match abandoned in the 72nd minute due to heavy fog. It will now be replayed on 12 November at 5pm)

Attard gained the initiative during the first-half and were close early on through Josef Axisa following a cross by Clive Lanzon.

In the 28th minute Swieqi opened the score through an unfortunate own-goal by Attard's substitute defender Daniel Agius with Attard responding through a lob by Keith Micallef which was cleared off the goal line. Attard continued to push forward and in the 44th minute a low shot by Josef Axisa was well saved by Jean Paul Mercieca.

In added time Attard were again close as an angled shot by Jonathan Saliba was deflected to a corner-kick. After the break Attard increased the pressure and were very close early on through Kurt Zahrab and Clive Lanzon.

At the other end Swieqi had a shot by Felix Cesare which was well saved by Spiteri with Attard being unlucky in the 60th minute as a close-range attempt by Gwyn Vassallo hit the crossbar.

Gradually the fog made it difficult for the match to continue and it was in fact abandoned on 72 minutes.
