A Malta Racing Club delegation headed by the club’s Marketing Director Mark Vella, and Paul Borg, club secretary, has left for France for the annual Maltese and French horse-racing event, the “Prix de Malte”.
The top eight drivers representing the Maltese islands are Noel Baldacchino, Charles Camilleri, Charlo Debono, Tony Demanuele, Julian Farrugia, Rodney Gatt, Brian Hili and Darren Mizzi.
All eight drivers will participate in the “Prix de Malte”, a 2,050 metre race today at the Hippodrome de Cordemais in France. The race should prove to be a competitive event between Maltese and some of the top drivers in France. During last year’s event three Maltese drivers topped the first three positions, with Charles Camilleri leading, followed by Michael Ellul and Julian Farrugia.
Before leaving to France, Vella; “I am very proud to be heading this Maltese delegation in France. The drivers have a difficult task to emulate last year’s performance.
A number of official meetings have also been scheduled between Malta Racing Club officials and Jacques Chartier, Racing Manager SECF and Mr Benoit Fabrega, SECF Chargé de mission Cellule Internationale.
