Screening of Amici Miei (1975) by Mario Monicelli
Amici Miei tells the story of four friends in Florence (later becoming five) who organise together idle pranks (called zingarate, gypsy shenanigans) in a continuous strife to prolong childhood during the adult life. Count Mascetti (Ugo Tognazzi) is an impoverished nobleman, Rambaldo Melandri (Gastone Moschin) is an unknown architect constantly in search of a woman, Giorgio Perozzi (the narrative voice, interpreted by Philippe Noiret) is an easy-going journalist constantly harassed by the unceasing disapproval of both his wife and his son, Guido Necchi (Duilio Del Prete) is the owner of a bar in whose pool hall the group usually plan the zingarate, and the fifth friend joining them is Alfeo Sassaroli (Adolfo Celi), a surgeon. The main theme of the film is male friendship, seen from a slightly bitter point of view: the link between them helps to replace the emptiness in their everyday life, it works like a solution and a way to escape. Entrance is free
