This year Modelle International has been appointed as the new License holders for Miss Italia Nel Mondo.

This international event directed by Enzo Mirigliani started way back in 1991. He is also the director of the popular show Miss Italia which started in 1959. During the Miss Italia Nel Mondo contest, Malta participated during a live TV show on Rai Uno, and from 1997 the show was also transmitted on Rai International to all continents. It is very popular among the Maltese people.

Miss Italia Nel Mondo is intended for contestants with Italian origin and applies to models between the age of 17 and 27. For the past nine years Nino Malizia has been the worldwide coordinator travelling to 100 countries to select the winner, who will take part in the final.

More than 5,000 models from all over the world apply to take part. The set-up is almost the same in each country where the participants are sponsored by Sash which provide all the casual and swimwear. During the past years, some well-known personalities were also invited to select the winners such as Anna Falchi, Stefano Tacchoni, Ben Gazzarra, Gianni Bella and others.

Last Saturday, at The Palace Hotel, Sarah Agius from Paola was chosen to represent Malta during a press launch/audition. Sarah will be travelling to Jesolo later on this month accompanied by the licence holders Sue Rossi and Claudia Calleja.

Luciana Van Beesten of LVB Luxury presented the winner with an exclusive Black Diamond necklace from the designer brand OTAZU.

The present Miss Italia Nel Mondo, Diana Curmei will be handing over the crown to the 2010 winner on 30 June. The well known Carlo Conti will be presenting the event.
