Malta Independent Wednesday, 1 September 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Serbian national Beach Volley teams recently joined the Maltese Beach Volleyball teams in a training camp organised jointly by the Malta and Serbia Volleyball Associations.

The MVA felt this training camp was important preparation for the Maltese teams in view of their participation for the Beach Volleyball Continental Cup which will be held at Golden Bay on 4 and 5 September.

Srdjan Veckov, the Serbian Beach Volleyball coach who conducted the camp, said that they were very satisfied with the training conditions they were offered and that they wish to make this training camp an annual event for their teams.

He believes that there is great potential for the future of beach volleyball in Malta and that the weather conditions made Malta an ideal beach volleyball hub in Europe. Veckov also spoke well of the Maltese players and said that they have a promising future if they take their training seriously.

The Serbian men’s team went on to win the U-23 Balkan championship beating Romania a few days after their training camp in Malta.
