About Ron Barceló

Barceló & Co. was founded in the Dominican Republic back in 1930 by the then young entrepreneur - Julian Barceló. It didn’t take long for the Barceló brand to become a standout among local rums, and its growth created one of the largest and most prestigious Dominican enterprises. Today Ron Barceló is sold in more than 50 countries around the world, having become a leader in the international premium rum market. Spain, being one of its biggest markets, is now selling over 375,000 cases per year.

In several European and American countries, Barceló took it upon itself the task to modify a widespread consumer custom where practically nothing but white rum was being chosen as the top drink, and set out to invite people to enjoy aged rum, with its amber-looking hues, some golden, some reddish, as well as the aromas and flavours that place these rums among the most sophisticated beverages in the world.

Key points to its success

The Dominican Republic’s perfect weather conditions are ideal for rum production in terms of temperature, humidity and evaporation rate. The aging facilities which are located at San Pedro de Macoris, has a constant average temperature of 30ºC and humidity of 90% which are the best conditions for aging.

Only the finest sugar cane produced in the Dominican Republic is used in the production of rum.

Constant research efforts by Master Blenders lead to the best possible blends, achieving a perfect combination of body character, great performance and exquisite bouquet. Special attention is given to the purity of water used as well the filtration process leading to a truly limpid product.

Its industry’s leading distilling technology combined with age-old artisan knowledge of local experts, which are heirs to a long tradition of excellence in rum production.
