With exam preparation safely out of the way for the summer, students of the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Dance have broadened their horizons locally and overseas taking advantage of a host of opportunities offered by the school.

In July, Ms Brigitte, together with Hip Hop instructor Sue Vassallo, took 30 students to London to attend courses in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop at the famous Pineapple Studios, described by one of the students as “A thrilling experience!”

Meanwhile, six Hip Hop students who were the winners of the Malta`s Got Dance competition have just attended a course at the BGB school of Dance in Sliema with Selatin Kara. Mr Kara is well known all around the world having danced with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Usher, Ricky Martin, Lenny Kravitz, Carlos Santana, and Shakira to name a few.

Two of Ms Brigitte’s junior students, Victoria Pavlova and Phoebe Schembri, aged 11, attended international summer courses at Rosella High Tower in Cannes, France and at The Arts Educational School in Tring, UK respectively.

Victoria will now further her studies at The Vagaonva School in Russia after being one of the selected 20, from among over 200 students. Both students passed their Cecchetti ballet exam with distinction, with Phoebe obtaining 100%.

The school continues to maintain its high standard and its reputation of, 100% success rate in examinations, with the majority of students obtaining distinction.

Other international courses organised this summer were Contemporary Dance Dubai and BaconBridge Course with guest teachers from Holland.
