German Snooker Masters - Higgins loses in first round

John Higgins has been knocked out of the German Masters by Peter Lines.

The world number three suffered a shock 5-3 first round defeat in Berlin to a player ranked 53rd in the world.

Higgins has had mixed results so far this season winning the Shanghai Masters in September but losing his second match in both the UK Championship and the Masters.

Higgins has lost to the 44-year-old Yorkshireman before in the last 64 of the first ranking event of 2013.
