The Malta Film Commission will be organising a three-day script development course with Bobette Buster between 10 and 12 June.

Film Commissioner Peter Busuttil explained that this course is being made possible by the Malta Film Commission as a result of a number of requests received from local script writers. He went on to say that “Bobette Buster’s world-renowned course which is being brought to Malta, The Art of Cinema Storytelling: The International Principles of Cross-Over Success, is the result of her combined experience as a Hollywood development executive and faculty member at USC’s Graduate School of Cinematic Arts, Pixar Studios, Disney Animation, Sony Animation, The University of Milan and La Femis in Paris”. He went on to say that “her lecture series is sought after throughout Europe, Cuba, Latin America and Japan. In each of the last 12 years, films or television shows from her students ranked in the Top 10 box office or TV ratings worldwide”.

Bobette is also author of Do Story: How To Tell Your Story So The World Listens (Do Book Co., 2013), and is currently producing the feature documentary, ‘You Ain’t Heard Nothin’ Yet!’ The Story of Cinema Sound with Karen Johnson and directed by Midge Costin (Chair of the USC Sound Department) as well as the coming-of-age musical, Pulse by Liz Hansen. She shares screenwriting credit with Stefano Rulli, Sandro Petraglia with Gabriele Salvatores, Siberian Education, (2013 release), also directed by Salvatores, and starring John Malkevich. Bobette is also a consultant with major studios including Disney, Cattleya Prods (Rome) and Lazennac Prods (Paris). She worked with Tony Scott for seven years in development (Revenge, Credit: Associate Producer) and was a Production consultant with Larry Gelbart, Weapons of Mass Distraction and Barbarians At The Gate (HBO, Emmy Best Film). She was also the Production coordinator on the PBS Special, In Search of Excellence. Bobette is both a graduate of and Adj. Professor in the USC Peter Stark Producing Programme and on the Guest Faculty of Pixar, Disney Animation, Sony Animation, Twentieth Century Fox, the University of Milan, La Femis (Paris), Screen Training Ireland, North By Northwest (Denmark), The Sundance Institute Latin American Lab (Oaxaca) and Media Business School (Spain). She was also a Disney Fellows Finalist 2007. She regularly guest lectures for diverse groups on Story Physics, Hard-Wired for Wonder, The Uses of Enchantment, Violence in Entertainment, The Purpose of ‘Happily Ever After’, Hollywood Economics 101 and The Ten Stages of Transformation as Revealed in Storytelling.
