LIVING DANCE is back for the sixth year running and having even more to offer all dancers, both those planning to attend the course for the first time and also those who have already attended one or more Living Dance Summer Schools.  LIVING DANCE 2013 will once again be held in Gozo in the idyllic setting of Ta’Sbejha in Gharb, between the 9th and 14th of September.  The course is being offered to both Residential and non-Residential students from the age of 10 – adult.  There will also be a Junior Course, 12th – 14th September,  for those keen dancers aged 7-9 who want to know more what life as a dancer is all about.  

LIVING DANCE was set up in 2008 and organises dance courses for students from all dance schools, giving them the opportunity to be taught by an expert team of local and foreign teachers, making friends and sharing experiences with fellow dancers from other schools.   LIVING DANCE Residential Dance Course aim to help dancers strengthen and improve their technique, as well as giving them a taste of life as a full time dance student.  It promises to offer a jam-packed week in which dancers take part in daily classes in the various disciplines, leading to a performance for parents at the end of the course.  A scholarship for a Dance Course in the UK will be awarded to the most promising Dancer.  Leanne Muscat Drago was given the award during Living Dance 2012 and will be attending a Performance Course at the Royal Academy of Dance.  Abigail Gollcher was awarded a Scholarship to Living Dance 2013. 

Last year our Contemporary Dance tutors Douglas Comley and Sandra Mifsud created a piece with all Living Dance students following the contemporary courses, called The Big Bang. The piece was a research exercise held in preparation for the event, Science in the City for which choreographers Comley and Mifsud were invited to present a choreography. The older group participating in Living Dance was offered the opportunity to perform the piece at the Science in the City Event held on the main stage at St. George's Square in Valletta on the 28th September 2012. Later that year the same group from Living Dance was once again invited to perform The Big Bang as part of the Malta Council for Science and Technology space at ZiguZajg Fringe on 17th November.  Similar performance opportunities will be offered to students attending Living Dance 2013. 

Living Dance 2013 will have intensive courses in Ballet, Repertoire, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Musical Theatre.  In addition to the resident faculty Emma Loftus and Sandra Mifsud, 3 guest tutors will be joining the LIVING DANCE team this year.  Mr. Douglas Comely who was also part of our team last year, will be joining us again this year.  Miss Sharon Johnston, Dance Teacher Director, Choreographer & Owner of Kinetix Dance School ~ Ireland and teaching faculty member of KS DANCE ~ UK.   She toured Germany participating in many musicals, lead dancer with ‘Spirit of Dance’, touring America, Korea and Canada as well as being invited to perform in Seoul Korea Olympic stadium & Bayern Munchen Olympic stadium alongside many well know artists such as Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Status Quo, Mariah Carey, Vanessa Mae, Boy to Men, Luciano Pavarotti and many more as a dancer in the Michael Jackson & friends concert for Kosovo in 1998. 

Also joining our team this year is Warren Bonello. Maltese dancer WARREN BONELLO started dancing at the age of 5. He has done a couple of performances here in Malta such as "Sound of Music", Junior Eurovision with Sarah Harrison and l-Isfida Season 2. He left Malta at the age of 17 to continue studying performing arts.  After graduating from Bodywork in Cambridge in performing arts he went onto various 

styles of work.  Credits include 'Westside Story' in the 'National Theatre' in Ireland, UK tour of 'Cinderella', 'Urban Flavours'. He also danced for Costa on one of their cruise ships and his latest work was representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest with Kurt Calleja singing the song 'This Is The Night'.  

Ever since warren has come back to Malta he has worked on big projects including premier for step up 4 at the Eden cinema, beer festival, Arriva advert, Malta fashion awards 2013 and summer of love - closing of earth garden.  Together with this, he is currently studying for a BA in dance at the University of Malta. 

LIVING DANCE 2013 is open to students aged 7 upwards, with the residential option for students aged 10 and over. Students choosing the residential option will have full board accommodation and organised onsite evening activities.  Attending the Summer School on a Non-Residential basis is also an option and lunch will be included for these students.
