This coming Friday 7pm, Wirt iz-Zejtun will be holding its next event at the Gnien tal-Kmandant (aka Gnien Luqa Briffa) in Zejtun.

The event forms part of a series of activities that are being dedicated to Mikiel Cachia with the aim of introducing the public to this personality who hailed from Zejtun. During the evening, two main speakers and researchers - Mr Liam Gauci, curator of the Malta Maritime Museum, and Architect Andre’ Zammit a relative of Cachia, will be sharing their insight about this historic personality.

Mikiel Cachia was an architect and a military engineer who lived throughout three consecutive foreign dominations of our islands – the Knights of St John, the French and the English. He had a significant political role during the French occupation, particularly being one of the Maltese leaders during the French blockade.  Moreover, under English rule, he was responsible for various architectural works among which were a number of distinguished gardens, one of which is the Gnien tal-Kmandant in Zejtun.

The general public is invited to attend to this event in order to get to know better this personality and also to enjoy the charming atmosphere of this historical public garden. Attendance is free of charge.
